Being Chaste

To be chaste means so much more than just being faithful to our one-and-only husband.  It means to see him as Krsna's representative.  It means to make him number one in our life.  It means to notice what he does and listen to what he says, so that we can offer him sweet words of admiration to encourage him in his service to Guru and Krsna.  It means to obey him and treat him respectfully.  It means to keep ourselves clean and pretty for him.  It means to keep our houses clean and pretty for him.  It means to cook the things he likes and offer them with love and devotion to Krsna so that our husband will be blessed by honoring Krsna prasadam.  It means to learn and become expert in the arts of homemaking.  It means to control ourselves when we are angry.  It means to be cheerful and agreeable, even when we don't feel like it, as a service to our husband.  It means to do our duties enthusiastically, in Krsna consciousness, with love and devotion, even if we don't feel like it, and even if our husband is temporarily in a slump and slacking in performing his duties.  It means to fold back his negative behaviors and focus on his redeeming qualities.  It means to believe in his innate, inner goodness and sincerity and to see him as the eternal servant of Krsna that he truly is, worthy of our service.
